Nest Fest 2011

This past Friday I had the pleasure of attending Nest Fest. The lineup for the show included Taking Back Sunday, 3OH!3, Jack's Mannequin, and The Maine. Pretty good lineup, eh?! The 1 1/2 drive to Estero, FL was 110% worth it.

The show kicked off with The Maine playing 7 songs.
(Photo from http://themainepat.tumblr.com/)

As soon as they hit the stage, the crowd quickly filled the pit. John O'Callaghan's vocals created a "rock and roll" feel with each song. The audio sounded crystal clear through the arena speakers. The Arizona boys put on a great show.

I'm not much of a fan of Jack's Mannequin... and therefore don't have any photos or information to share about their performance. Sorry. :/ I did however see the members of The Maine watch the performance from the pit.

As soon as the hand sign was thrown up, everyone knew who was up next. 3OH!3 definitely was a crowd favorite from the start. Sean and Nat had everyone dancing along to their catchy, techno beats.

As expected, everyone in the arena could be heard singing along to "Starstrukk," "Double Vision," and "Don't Trust Me." The band duo was a great pick for a festival dedicated to entertaining college students.

Last, but certainly not least... TAKING BACK SUNDAY. This band honestly blew me away with their performance. The audio sounded flawless as the band sang some old and newer songs, as well as a brand new track off their next album. Adam Lazzara has wonderful stage presence. From wrapping mic cords around his neck, to jumping into the crowd, he did it all.

If you ever have the chance to see this band play a show, please do not pass up the opportunity!

Overall, my first Nest Fest experience was great. Can't wait to see who they will book for next year's show!

West Palm Beach Warped 2010

Tons of people, over 100 degree weather, and good music made up the West Palm Beach date of the 2010 Vans Warped Tour. Luckily tropical storm Bonnie did not make an appearance. The heat was almost unbearable! I spent so much on drinks just to stay hydrated. The 30 percent chance of rain unfortunately never happened. Note to self: Sunscreen is a must-have for attending Warped Tour.

There was a huge turn out of fans arriving to see their favorite bands perform. It was difficult to walk in some areas due to the overcrowding. Signings even had to be cancelled due to lack of room. I guess it's better to have more people than not enough!

I started off my day by watching Breathe Carolina. They were perfect for the first band to watch. Their energy transferred into the crowd immediately as the set began. After having a great turn out at Warped Tour last year, it's no surprise that they are back again to play the full tour. Kyle and David sang the popular hits from their latest album Hello Fascination.

If you don't already know, David and Kyle have started a clothing line called Blush. They have their own tent at every Warped date. Keep an eye out for it!

After Breathe Carolina, I stuck around the Altec Lansing Stage to wait for You Me At Six's set. It was my first time watching them live and all I have to say is: boy were they great! This band has very catchy tunes that you just can't help but sing along to. They almost seem like a British version of Fall Out Boy. You Me At Six is not only very popular in their home country, but they are also forming a strong fanbase in the states.

While waiting for certain bands to play, I walked around a bit. The Truth tent immediately drew my attention. They have an awesome orange truck! Their mission is to spread information about the misleading ways of Big Tobacco. Stop by the Truth tent to learn more about the dangers of tobacco. AND you can play games at the tent. They give away lots of prizes everyday- p-retty cool. Anyhow!

Disco Curtis, although not known by many, has extraordinary talent. Playing the second half of Warped Tour will hopefully help the band show their potential to people that are yet to hear their music. The band plays an excellent cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" everyday on Warped Tour. Their single, "Ashley", also gets the crowd off their feet within the first verse. If you haven't listened to their music yet, I definitely think you should.

Also, make sure to stop by the Disco Curtis tent if you get a chance. The boys are very friendly and have some cool merch for sale.

It was a pleasant surprise to have Never Shout Never play. Just two days before, Christofer Drew came down with a tonsil infection. He also has a bruised bone in his foot from jumping off an amp at the MA date. This boy is one tough cookie! He is sure to make the most of any situation. He even hopped around stage on the foot that he didn't hurt!

The crowd for Never Shout Never was one of the largest that I saw all day. It was no surprise that it was mostly made up of young girls singing along to every word of every song. Even though Christofer always felt as if his music wasn't right for Warped tour, he seems to fit in quite fine. He puts on a crowd-pleasing show everyday.

Bring Me The Horizon played the last spot on the Teggart Main Stage. I'm not sure whether it was more entertaining to watch the band or the crazy circle pit they had the crowd form around the sound tent. I've never seen anything like it! They also couldn't leave out the wall of death, making the crowd form one despite the security guards trying to stop it. Even after a full day in the tiring heat, Bring Me The Horizon's crowd was super energetic.

Warning: Don't go into the crowd unless you are ready to mosh like crazy. Their pit gets very intense!

I enjoyed ending my night by watching them perform! I feel as if their huge crowd feels the same way. :)

Overall, I was certainly not disappointed with how the day turned out. I almost feel as if the whole day never happened, but then I feel the sunburn on my shoulders and face and know that it did. The line-up for Warped Tour this year was picked perfectly. There is something for everyone. Make sure to check out all of the merch tents when you get the chance. Also, some great charities have joined the tour so visit their tents because they would love to share some information with you.

I cannot wait to see what next year's Warped will have in-store for us!
